CD review: Bring Your Own Knife - End
If you have a look on the logo of the band in the front cover, you'd probably think this is a Grindcore band or something like that. But then if you have a closer look and decrypt the band's name, "Bring Your Own Knife", you'll see it's actually a Metalcore band. At least that was the case with me and my first contact with this release.

Leaving band names and genres aside, the album's front cover is one of the best I've seen this year. I don't know about you, but I could buy this just for its cool cover. This devastating image of a modern big city seems quite appealing for all those who hate life in huge cities... This artwork also seems to go well with the album's name, "End".

I wish I could say the same about the album's music too, but honestly I can't. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a metalcore hater, but I'm not really a fan of the genre either. The truth is I dislike these breakdowns and the extremeness most bands try to put in their music. They all end up with the same unoriginal and boring sound. The only positive thing here is that these Swedes are more or less influenced by the Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal scene. In fact that's the only reason I'm still listening to this album. There are moments I find myself wondering which genre is prevailing more, but it always ends up in metalcore... I'd like it more if this was a pure melodeath album instead of this hybrid. But hey, since this is their first album, there's time for these guys to choose a more straight path in metal...

In a few lines, I'd say if you're into metalcore music go for this release, since it's not really bad, but if you hate this kind of music, then stay away... Either way it's your decision.
